Soils & Barks

The products mentioned here are sold in bulk, for the larger projects, and the Landscape trade. We also stock a huge range of smaller bags of planting composts, soil enrichers, soils with additives, bark in various sizes, soil improvers and the like, details of which you will find under the 'Gardening' tab, and 'Growing Composts'.

Topsoil is supplied either in 'bulk bags', or loose by the cubic metre. Loose loads, for tipped deliveries start at 1 cu.m.

All topsoil is screened, a 50mm screen being the largest, and this is for general use for infilling, and flower beds. The next grade up is passed through a finer screening process to 25mm, and is best suited to the preparation of lawns. As there will be few stones to act as drainage, we recommend this laid no deeper than 150mm. The finest soil we stock are sandy loams from Rolawn. This is only available in ‘big bags’.

Bark in bulk is currently available in 2 grades, one as a basic mulch for borders, the other more ornamental, also suitable for play areas. Horse manure compost, actually spent mushroom compost, is an ideal source of organic material to enrich beds and borders. This is however, unsuitable for lime hating plants.
